Why GOP (Grumpy Old People) make life difficult for families with children, and what you can do about it
By Jared Davis
I think the GOP should be banned from all campgrounds or RV parks. If it were up to me, the GOP would be banned from just about everywhere.
Wait, I’m not talking about the political party, I’m talking about Grumpy Old People! I can’t tell you how many times we’ve pulled into an RV park, only to see the neighbors slam their doors when my kids go outside to help. Look, I tolerate campfires; you should be able to tolerate children at campgrounds.
Despite the popular (though ridiculous) notion that children these days are out of control, as a general rule kids are just the same as they were when you were a kid. Society might change, but kids are no different. Love still works the same way. Talking is still a good way to get to know children. Spending time with them, making them a priority, pays off big dividends, just like the old days. Potential should be what you see when you look at a child, and that’s exactly what they need.
The biggest problem with the GOP is that they have managed to block families with children from campgrounds throughout the US and Canada. Yet I’ve never seen a campground that blocked GOP in favor of children. This is the worst kind of discrimination. All you’re doing is hurting you. I for one am sad to see it happen. Children bring life and energy to everything they do, and frankly I think that’s exactly what GOP miss out on.
Resist the urge to grump. Embrace the giddy joy and innate silliness of children and I guarantee your life will be better for it. Besides, my kids don’t bite (too hard).
